Bodegas Quitapenas is a family-run company founded in 1880 and specialised in the production of wines with denomination of origin Málaga and Sierras de Málaga. Over several generations, Bodegas Quitapenas has been able to preserve the tradition and know-how of wine, becoming a benchmark brand of Malaga wines at national and international level.

Its peculiar name was acquired after the fame given by the numerous muleteers who stopped at this house located at that time on the Vélez-Málaga road, becoming known as the winery ‘that takes away our sorrows’. Since then, and after the work and legacy of several generations, Bodegas Quitapenas, today located in the capital of Malaga, has been able to adapt to the scenarios and markets that have occurred in almost 150 years of history.

Currently, Bodegas Quitapenas produces more than twenty PDO Malaga and Sierras de Malaga wines, including sweet wines from the Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez grape varieties, dry white wines, red wines, sparkling wines and vermouths.

Wine tourism is also an essential part of Bodegas Quitapenas, which has been organising tours and tastings for more than 50 years, being one of the most visited wineries in Malaga and where it is possible to enjoy the great products of the province paired with the exceptional wines of Quitapenas.
