Destilerías el Tajo - Producers

Destilerías el Tajo

Company dedicated to the preparation of spirits, liquors and refreshing drinks

Destilerías El Tajo is a family business specializing in the production of brandies, liqueurs, and refreshing beverages. It began its activity in 1985 in the municipality of Jubrique, a beautiful village nestled in the Genal Valley of Malaga. At that time, Mr. Diego Ruiz Romero, founder of the company and owner of one of the many stills in the different houses of the village, started distilling the grape must to obtain brandy. The activity then only consisted of anise manufacturing.

Diego Ruiz Iborra, son of the founder of the original brandy factory, took over, and with dedication, skill, and entrepreneurship, saw the opportunity to expand to other markets. In 1969, he relocated the industry to Ronda, the capital of the Serranía region, where it has remained ever since. Here, he expanded the range of products manufactured, producing not only anise but also gin, brandy, fruit liqueurs with and without alcohol, and other non-alcoholic beverages. In essence, Destilerías El Tajo is a company with an authentic "Sabor a Málaga" (Taste of Malaga).
